Domestic Relations and Probate Litigation

Our Domestic Relations and Probate Litigation Group provides sophisticated counsel to clients across the full spectrum of matrimonial and probate disputes. We are experienced advocates and offer representation in cases involving complex asset division, child custody, visitation, removal and relocation, child support, alimony, modification and contempt. We also represent clients in the negotiation of premarital agreements, in the enforcement of foreign judgments and in the prosecution and defense of paternity actions. Our attorneys also frequently serve as mediators.

In addition to family law, we as trial attorneys are frequently called upon to represent clients in complicated probate litigation, particularly will contests and disputes involving the interpretation or administration of trusts.

The testimony and credibility of expert witnesses can be crucial in divorce and probate litigation. As skilled trial attorneys, we have extensive experience in preparing and effectively cross-examining experts involved in the valuation of closely held businesses, stocks, pension, profit-sharing and retirement plans, stock options, real estate, trusts and other assets.

Our broad practice, strong reputation and extensive contacts in the business community often enable us to assist clients in finding other service providers, such as estate planning and accounting professionals, to help them deal with legal and other issues that arise in the context of family law and probate matters.

Our attorneys have been recognized in Best Lawyers in America and as “Massachusetts Super Lawyers” in the area of family law. They have written extensively on domestic relations issues, including as contributors to the Massachusetts Family Law Manual (MCLE, 1996 revised) since its first edition in 1986, and the Massachusetts Divorce Law Practice Manual (MCLE 2005). We are frequent lecturers on procedural and substantive issues in the area of domestic relations and are active members of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the Massachusetts Family and Probate American Inn of Court, the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, and the Family Law Sections of the Boston and American Bar Associations.
